Hope is why we exist.
Joshua's Place started in the basement of a small house in South Lebanon in 2008. Originally a Free Store Food Pantry with a relational approach, 10 volunteers, and serving just 15 families, we've since grown to 500 volunteers serving in five school districts with several programs dedicated to being in relation with the families we serve.
Our Mission
Joshua's Place exists to help individuals and families overcome barriers in their lives that cause instability. Our focus is primarily developmental. We seek to engage in generational change by providing practical and material benefits. However, we also know that poverty is defined more by broken relationships, instability, and lack of options. This understanding brings us to innovative approaches by engaging domestic poverty.
We first look at what our community and those we serve have to offer instead of what they lack. We believe each person is an image bearer of God and therefore has inherent value. We work to preserve that worth by helping in a way that preserves dignity and promotes personal engagement. We measure the help we provide to ensure we are not perpetuating dependency and avoid being viewed as parental figures in the lives of the adults we serve.
We know poverty is often perpetuated by addiction, so we focus much of our energy on recovery for individuals who are struggling.
